Who is responsible
This website, dailyrebuildguide.com, is run by John Mitchell, Lisin Glen, Ballyboggan Road, Glasnevin, Dublin 11, D11 CC04, Ireland (the “controller” under data protection law). Contact: dailyrebuildguide@gmail.com. We’re a small operation and haven’t appointed a Data Protection Officer; write to that address about anything in this policy.
This policy covers the website only. The Daily Rebuild app has its own policy at app.dailyrebuildguide.com/privacy.
What we store, and why

We don’t sell your data, and we don’t use it for advertising.
The newsletter
When you sign up, we email you a link to confirm (“double opt-in”). Nothing is sent until you press it. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and unsubscribing takes effect straight away. Since 15 October 2026 newsletters are sent from our own mailbox, noreply@dailyrebuildguide.com, on our web host’s servers in Ireland. Before that we used Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France); that account has been closed and the list deleted there.
How long we keep things
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. Sign-ups that are never confirmed are deleted after 7 days. The IP address you signed up from is deleted after 30 days. Records of which newsletters we sent are deleted after 12 months.
- After you unsubscribe or an address stops working: we keep only the email address and the date, so we don’t contact you again. If you ask us to delete it completely, we keep only a scrambled code that can’t be turned back into your address, so it can never be added again by accident.
- Quiz details and emails you send us: kept in our email inbox for as long as we need them to deal with you, and no longer than 12 months.
- Security records: IP addresses from forms, 1 day. The security cookie, until you close your browser.
- Analytics: Google keeps analytics data for the period set in our Google Analytics account (2 months).
- Our host keeps routine server backups for no longer than one month, so anything we delete is gone from them within a month.
Who else handles your data
- Web Hosting Ireland hosts the website, its database and our mailbox on servers in Ireland, on our behalf.
- Google receives analytics data through Google Analytics, but only after you press Accept. Our email inbox is a Gmail account, so emails you send us and quiz details are stored by Google too. The three quiz pages also load their fonts from Google, which means Google sees your IP address when you open one.
- Fionnglas Tech, which builds and looks after the website for us, may see data while doing that work, only on our instructions.
Links to other services take you to them, and their own privacy terms then apply: the DRG app (app.dailyrebuildguide.com, which has its own privacy policy), Amazon (where we link to a product on Amazon, it may be an affiliate link: if you buy something we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you), WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook.
Transfers outside Europe
Google may transfer data to the United States. Google is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission has decided gives adequate protection, and also uses the Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. Everything else stays in Ireland.
Cookies
Before you choose, the site sets only what it needs to work, and sends nothing to Google:
- drg_session: security cookie that protects our forms. Deleted when you close your browser.
- drg_consent: remembers whether you pressed Accept or Decline, so we don’t ask again. 1 year.
Only if you press Accept, Google Analytics also sets:
- _ga and _ga_BJGCXJPGST: count visits and tell visits apart. Up to 2 years (most browsers cut this to about 13 months).
Accept switches on analytics only, never advertising cookies. To change your mind, use Cookie settings at the bottom of any page.
Your rights
You have the right to see the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to get a copy to take elsewhere, and to withdraw your consent at any time (for the newsletter, that’s the unsubscribe link). You can always object to direct marketing. Email dailyrebuildguide@gmail.com and we’ll reply within one month. No decisions about you are made automatically.
If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
Age
The newsletter is for people aged 16 or over.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update it here and change the date at the top. If a change matters to newsletter subscribers, we’ll tell them by email first.
